To The Field

Field Training Exercises (FTX) occur twice a year, once during the fall semester and once during the spring semester. These FTXs are from Friday-Sunday, with training taking place at Camp Butner Training Center in Stem, North Carolina. The Battalion performs tactical exercises, weapons familiarization, concurrent training, practices land navigation and completes an obstacle course.

Combined FTX

The spring FTX is a joint training with the Army ROTC programs from Duke and North Carolina State University. In the spring, cadets are divided into platoons and conduct situational training exercise (STX) lanes. Joint FTX FTX provides cadets the opportunity to test their technical and leadership capabilities in a field environment. On top of this, cadets are able to work with new people and build relationships with cadets from other programs.
